Branch County Sexual Assault Services (BCSAS) consists of a team of 5 trained, experienced, forensic nurse examiners that are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to handle the special needs of sexual assault and domestic violence victims, women, children and men.

Our private exam room provides a comfortable place for gathering information, interviews, and examinations in a safe, professional, and confidential environment.

Forensic exams, evidence collection, and injury photographs are done with compassion and sensitivity to the special needs of patients.

Sexual Assault Care Services

• Document a history of the assault.
• Provide a head to toe medical/forensic examination.
• Identify, document, and photograph any injuries.
• Forensic Evidence Collection.
• Provide appropriate medications as needed.
• Discuss their legal and reporting options.
• Provide referral and follow up care information.
• Provide complete Discharge Instructions and a special folder of information.
• Provide a follow up call 2 days post visit to answer any questions or concerns.

Intimate Partner Violence (Domestic Violence) Care Services

• A Danger Assessment will be done.
• A complete injury history will be documented.
• Head to toe medical/forensic examination.
• Document and photograph injuries.
• Evidence collection and medications provided as needed.
• Safety Planning.
• Victim Advocate services are available from Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.
• A special Discharge Folder is provided with follow up and referral information.
