Location: Coldwater Regional Hospital
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of a registered nurse, performs various patient care activities necessary in caring for patient or a group of patients. Performs clerical and receptionist duties as required.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served (ie: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric), coordinated and delegated by licensed nursing personnel.
2. Obtains patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, and I and O measurements and documents on the daily nursing assessment sheet or communicates results to the assigned RN. Notifies RN of abnormal vitals or PGLUs immediately.
3. Assists physicians and nursing staff with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care depending on assigned department, including but not limited to: Venipuncture, point of care testing, patient transport, assist patients with ADLs, assist patients
with ambulation, 12 lead EKG’s, initiation of cardiac monitoring, CPR, and urinary catherization.
4. Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and equipment. Ensures proper functioning of equipment,
including initial cleaning of instruments.
5. Performs communication and coordination duties related to scheduling procedures, along with
coordinating admission, discharge, transfer, and death. Collects data, photocopies information,
answers telephone, takes messages, directs calls, and enters information into the computer.
6. Picks up and delivers specimens, documents, and other items. Supports department during crisis
by functioning as liaison with other departments and the public.
7. Prepares and maintains patient records according to standards/policy.
8. Performs any other job related to duties as indicated.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school graduate or equivalent. EMT License or 2nd year nursing student or CNA.
Skills: Ability to read, write, and speak the English language. Must have excellent communication skills and telephone etiquette. Ability to perform basic math and must have basic computer skills. Ability to deal effectively with a changing environment and be open to new ideas. Ability to function quickly in stressful situations. Must have medical terminology and the ability to operate diagnostic equipment.
Years of Experience: Minimum one (1) year experience in an acute care setting delivering patient care.
License: N/A
Certification: BLS

WORKING CONDITIONS
Personal Protective Equipment: Eye and face protection, gown, mask, sterile and/or non-sterile gloves.
Physical Demands: Frequently lifts/carries/pushes/pulls up to 50 pounds. Frequent prolonged standing/walking. Frequent lifting, positioning, and/or transferring of patients. Must be able to see, hear, and move fluidly. Regularly exposed to infection/contagious disease, bloodborne pathogens from blood and/or bodily fluids. Subject to long and/or irregular hours.
